DMC’s DrinkBot on Exhibit at PCC’s Oktoberfest

Come see the DMC DrinkBot in action at Oktoberfest!

Working together for over a year, a group of DMC engineers built our very own DrinkBot. We developed it during a FedEx Day and improved the DrinkBot over a second FedEx Day. DMC’s DrinkBot finally made its debut at the Siemens Automation Summit 2017.
The DrinkBot is an excellent tool for highlighting multiple factory automation technologies offered by DMC while serving a variety of drinks – anything from cocktails to Italian sodas. We could have simplified the DrinkBot, but its intention was to show off a bunch of cool capabilities and to demonstrate a lot of DMC and the Siemens S7-1200 platforms’ potential uses and abilities.
DMC’s DrinkBot utilizes a Siemens S7-1200 PLC, 7″ Comfort Panel, Siemens G120, and Siemens 1FK7 Servo Motor with DRIVE-CLiQ encoder to control the operation. The DrinkBot provides eight different alcohols or syrups and six different mixers for a large variety of drink options.

Oktoberfest – Siemens Realizing Engineering Efficiencies Hands-On Booth

During PCC’s Oktoberfest, Siemens will be hosting a hands-on product booth titled “Realizing Engineering Efficiencies – Hands-on Workshop with TIA Portal.”  Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the Totally Integrated Automation Portal (TIA Portal) can reduce engineering development and machine downtime.
Booth visitors will work through a series of hands-on modules with the TIA Portal engineering software to configure an automation station consisting of a S7-1500 and S7-1200 PLC, HMI Comfort Panel, ET 200SP remote I/O and a SINAMICS G120 drive and motor.

What you’ll experience:

Experience how you can reduce engineering time by up to 30% in the design, commissioning and maintenance phases
Learn how a flexible and scalable machine configuration results in faster time to market
Observe how integrated diagnostics speed up commissioning – onsite or from remote locations

While this booth does not require you to add this to your Oktoberfest course “schedule”,  you must register to attend Oktoberfest

Banner Engineering Lighting and Indicators: LED Indicators

In an industrial setting, lighting is of paramount importance, regardless of the required purpose. Even something as little as light indication is vital, as one missed warning can lead to wide-scale catastrophe. LED indicators help prevent these warnings from being missed.
Banner Engineering offers LED indicators ranging from those suitable for daylight to those that emit multiple colors. With rugged designs, easy installation, and flexible operation, Banner’s indicators provide an excellent solution for your safety and indicator needs.

Banner Engineering Lighting and Indicators: Pick-to-Light

Pick-to-light is an ideal, error-proofing technique that can greatly bring down errors and defects in a lean manufacturing environment. Light is used as a means for directing operators to the correct parts and quantities. This ensures that the established process is followed smoothly and without any hitches. Lighting pick can optimize part selection in warehouses, marts, and other storage areas where the delivery of the right part in a time sensitive manner is necessary for profitability.
Banner Engineering has a complete offering of Pick-to-Light sensors to cover all industrial automation bases. No matter what the application, Banner has the right sensor for you.

Banner Engineering Lighting and Indicators: Tower Lights

Combination lighting has often been used in industries for indication purposes in complex situations. Typically, lights of different colors have been stacked, with each color representing a particular situation. This process is time-consuming and also counterproductive due to the number of resources it utilizes. As an alternative, tower lights are preassembled and preconfigured multi-segment LEDs that offer greater flexibility, sturdiness, and ease of installation.
Banner Engineering offers a variety of Tower Lights to fit a number of specialized situations or environments.

Banner Engineering Lighting and Indicators: Touch Buttons

Industrial machines hold a lot of power and often require intervention through manual means. Most of the time, circuit breakers and magnetic contactors are sufficient for the job. However, there are instances where a more visual approach can help the onsite workers stay on top of things.
Banner Engineering offers industrial-grade touch buttons that feature multiple colors and IO capabilities, making them ideal for lean manufacturing environments.

VPN and Cellular Options for Remote Monitoring

Globalization has been a driving force for the industrial world for decades now. Multinational enterprises no longer limit themselves to a single geographical area for the production needs and often spread their plants across continents. While such diversity does lead to lower costs when serving a specific area, it does bring its own pitfalls, most serious of which is extending technical support.
Things often go wrong, and it isn’t always feasible to have an engineering team on-site to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix the problem. Even if there is an engineering team, they won’t always have the skills required to fix problems belonging to a wide spectrum.

Solcon DriveStart

Soft starters are essential pieces of equipment for motor control that are cost-effective and time-savers. Most are used for fan and pump controls, but some applications can be unique to a particular problem.
Solcon’s DriveStart is an IGBT-based medium voltage soft starter designed for applications that have a higher starting torque requirement and need a low starting current. The soft starter is able to bring down costs related to operations thanks to its robust design. When compared to a medium voltage VFD, the starter is much more economical and provides the same number of features.

Solcon Solbrake

It’s important to make sure motors can function properly, and electronic brakes are one method that keeps them working smoothly. The Solbrake, a DC Injection Brake by Solcon, is capable of bringing three-phase AC motors to a smooth stop through the controlled transmission of DC current into the motor’s windings. After the AC current has been cut off, the DC current injected into the motor’s windings builds up a stationary magnetic field that provides braking torque.
