A circuit breaker is one of the most common protection and control devices used in the vast field of electrical-power. There are several types of circuit breakers available, each having its own pros and cons, one of which is the molded case circuit breaker (MCCB).

An MCCB uses electromechanical trip units at the base of its operations and provides protection to equipment by combining a temperature sensor with a current-sensitive electromagnetic device. As soon as the trip mechanism is triggered, both devices come into action. Depending on the application, and the level of protection desired, an MCCB uses different types of trip elements for providing protection against:

Siemens has developed and fabricated a gold-standard molded case circuit breaker that sets the bar high when it comes to designing, installing and operating equipment connected to power distribution networks.

MCCBs are readily available in the market, of various standards and quality, however Siemens has differentiated itself from the rest by offering a synergy of features that provide flexibility, top-class protection and extensive monitoring capability so that integration can be made possible within any power system.

Two variants of the 3VA MCCB are available: 3VA1 and 3VA. Each hold an Ampere rating of 100-250A and 160-630A respectively, dependent on the desired usage. However, both are built on the same solid principles.

1. Flexibility: The two variants of the 3VA MCCB provide adequate flexibility in terms of ampere and pole rating, allowing users to cover all kinds of industrial setting and low-voltage power distribution networks.

3. Safety: Circuit breakers are primarily used for fault protection so that any major loss can be avoided. The 3VA MCCB places the elimination of risks of accidents, fires, and faults as its top priority so that users can utilize electricity without worrying about the connected equipment.

4. Comprehensiveness: Not only does Siemens provide top-notch electronic support for their products but at each phase of installation, they provide a detailed explanation of the associated steps. This makes the 3VA MCCB an ideal contender for the most complex of networks.

Furthermore, the 3VA MCCB comes with the inbuilt capability to merge into a web of Siemens’ control equipment, merging comfortably within the Total Integration Automation.

5. Communication: As merger within the TIA is an inbuilt feature, then so is communication with higher-level management systems through bus systems. The Electronic Trip Units can collect various electric quantities like voltage, current, power, etc. and transmit them to a central hub for future usage.
