Difference between AC and DC Drives

Understanding the distinction between AC and DC drives and their roles in the regulation of speed and power in electric motors can be critical to helping your business. Simply put, a drive is a device that is used to control the speed of an electric motor by altering the frequency of the electrical supply to the motor. AC and DC drives perform this action in markedly different ways and to differing effects. Below, we’ll discuss the distinctions between the two types of drives and help you determine which drive – whether AC or DC – would be best suited for your application.

What is IO-Link?

IO-Link is a serial, digital communication protocol for use in automation technology. It is used to connect sensors or actuators to an automation system. With IO-Link, the “last meter” of communication with sensors and actuators is digitized. IO-Link is standardized in IEC 61131-9. Where previously only binary switching states (on/off) or analog signals were transferred, now status information can also be read by the sensor or actuator and configuration data transferred to the sensor and actuator.IO-Link is not another bus system, but rather a point-to-point connection between the IO-Link device and a connection unit, the IO-Link master.
