The Baggage of Variable Frequency Drive Solutions

Over the years, drive technology has truly advanced and gotten more diversified, giving users a wide variety to choose from. Low voltage VFDs have made their way to applications of up to 2500 HP, and greater, while medium voltage VFDs are being used for applications as low as 150 HP. A 2016 industrial survey revealed that customers were considering making the shift from LV to MV VFD solutions.

Cable Routing, Sealing & Strain Relief

KVT-ER is a split cord grip for routing and sealing cables with connectors or complete cable harnesses. In addition, electric, pneumatic or hydraulic lines without terminals or connectors as well as corrugated hoses can be easily routed (e.g. into control panels, enclosures or machinery), sealed and strain relieved.

High Variability, Perfect for Retrofits & Maintenance
Up to 4 lines with diameters from 1 to 16 mm / 0.039″ to 0.630″ (using single-hole grommets KT 1 – 15) or one line from 16 to 35 mm / 0.630″ to 1.378″ (using grommets KT 16 – 34) can be routed and sealed with this cord grip. The maximum dimensions of the routed preassembled connectors depend on the metric cut-out sizes, not on the split cable grommets.
Due to the consistently split system, subsequent retrofitting, repairs and maintenance are easily possible. The cord grip is simply assembled around the routed lines.
The KVT-ER sizes are based on metric standard cut-outs M32, M50 and M63. Hexagonal locknuts are included in the shipment. For assembly, it is recommended to tighten the cover lid screws with max. 2 N-m / 1.475 ft-lb. This creates the required contact pressure.

High Ingress Protection Ratings IP65, IP66, IP67 & IP68

Due to the high contact pressure, the injected elastomer gasket and the use of KT single-hole cable grommets, the cord grip KVT-ER reaches protection ratings IP65 / IP66 / IP67 / IP68 (certified according to EN 60529). Note: When using multi-hole or special grommets, protection is downgraded to IP54.
In addition to the high tightness, the cord grip KVT-ER enables strain relief on the routed cables according to EN 62444.
NEMA TYPE 12 / 4X and “c UR us” certifications are currently in progress.

Carlo Gavazzi Launches New CD34 Series Liquid Level Capacitive Sensors

Carlo Gavazzi’s NEW CD34 Series liquid level capacitive proximity sensors are perfect for level applications in markets such as Packaging, Food and Beverage, Agriculture and Water Treatment.
CARLO GAVAZZI recently launched their new CD34 Series liquid level capacitive sensors. The CD34 Series is designed to detect water-based liquids through non-metallic walls, i.e. plastic or glass. The sensors automatically account for the thickness of plastic or glass walls and compensate for any residual films, moisture or foam accumulation while reliably sensing the presence of the liquid to be detected. The sensor is packed with a universal bracket, which provides great mounting versatility for a variety of surfaces, circular (e.g. sight glass, round containers) or flat.

The CD34 works out of the box for most applications, as it’s capable of detecting the media (liquid) with a conductivity of 50mS/cm. For the most demanding applications, the CD34 offers teach-in capabilities, which assists in solving the most challenging level applications. Through the teach-in function, the sensor can be calibrated to overcome highly conductive, viscous liquids or tanks with very thin or thick walls.
What’s more, the compact and robust sensor housing with NEMA250 (1, 2, 4, 4x, 5 and 12), IP69K ratings and ECOLAB certification make it very suitable for wash-down applications and harsh environments typically found in the food and beverage industry or applications that are exposed to wind and weather.

The features of the CD34 Series capacitive proximity sensors include:

10 to 30VDC supply voltage
NPN or PNP output function
O. or N.C. switching
LED to indicate output and power ON
Reverse polarity, short circuit and transient protected
2m cable or pigtail M8 connector
IP69K for wash-down applications
NEMA 250 (1, 2, 4, 4x, 5 and 12) ratings
cULus approved
ECOLAB Certified
